Albany Medical Center's Fitness to Drive program aims to help patients return to safe driving or maintain safe driving skills.

Patients receive a comprehensive clinical evaluation to assess their motor function, sensation, cognition, vision, and visual perception, and use our state-of-the-art driving simulator with a wide range of driving experiences. The results of these evaluations are used to create a treatment plan specific to the patient.

Our team includes three licensed occupational therapists specializing in driver rehabilitation. They provide training for driving with adaptive equipment and required modifications for independent driving. If driving retirement is recommended, we provide counseling and resources.
