About the Visiting Nurses
As a member of the Albany Med Health System, the Visiting Nurses provides nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, home health aide, dietician, and social work services for patients in their homes, as well as staffing support for the System's four hospitals: Albany Medical Center, Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital, and Saratoga Hospital.
Visiting Nurses Home Health provides a wide range of referral-based skilled nursing services in the home, including wound care, pulmonary care, diabetes management, rehabilitation, palliative care, transition assistance, and more. Visiting Nurses Home Care provides personal care services in the home without the need for a referral. These services include assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, housekeeping, and meal preparation. We also provide home health aides that can assist with colostomy care and temperature and blood pressure monitoring. Companionship, socialization, and supervision services are also available. As the internal travel nursing agency for the Albany Med Health System, the Staffing Alliance provides staffing support to all four hospitals in the System. Contracts typically run for one to 13 weeks and are open to RNs, LPNs, surgical and ultrasound technologists, and X-ray technicians. The VNA Foundation
The Albany Med Health System Visiting Nurses Foundation was established to aid and assist the Visiting Nurses. Foundation funds are utilized to provide home care services, durable medical equipment, and other necessities for Visiting Nurses patients experiencing financial hardship. Funding sources for the Foundation include annual appeals, donations from patients and family members in memory of a loved one or in honor of a nurse or therapist, employee donations, and grant solicitations.
