Saratoga Hospital Nurses Donate Life-Saving AEDs to Local Community Organizations During Nurses Week
Saratoga Hospital nurses donated automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to two local community organizations to help strengthen emergency preparedness and improve access to life-saving equipment throughout Saratoga County.
The donations were presented to the Wilton Food Pantry and Corinth Community Cupboard by front-line nursing staff from Saratoga Hospital’s Emergency Department.
AEDs are portable medical devices used during sudden cardiac arrest emergencies. When used quickly, they can significantly improve surgical outcomes before emergency responders arrive. The initiative was organized as a way for nurses to give back to the community they serve every day.
Representatives from both organizations accepted the donations during brief presentations attended by nursing staff and community members.
“Having access to an AED can make a critical difference during a cardiac emergency,” said Paige Edwards, Clinical Nurse Manager at Saratoga Hospital. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with these organizations and help provide tools that could potentially save a life.”
The donation event was held during National Nurses Week, an annual celebration recognizing the contributions nurses make to patient care and community health.
