Nicola Ross, MD, a board-certified neurologist, has joined the Division of Pediatric Neurology at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Ross will see children with neurological conditions, including epilepsy, headaches, and movement disorders. She has a special interest in epilepsy and neonatal neurology. Dr. Ross says she is passionate about guiding parents along the journey of caring for a child with a neurological diagnosis.
Previously, Dr. Ross worked as a pediatric neurologist at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. She completed a residency in child neurology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she also earned her medical degree. While in Rochester, she volunteered to work with patients experiencing homelessness who needed medical care, helped coordinate and provide free school physicals to underserved children, and provided neurological care to uninsured patients in the city. Dr. Ross is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Before entering the medical field, Dr. Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in drama from the University of Washington. She went on to become a certified massage therapist. While in massage school, Dr. Ross says she became interested in medicine after studying anatomy and the human body, and she decided to enroll in medical school after reading the book “Complications” by Atul Gawande.
Dr. Ross resides in Latham and enjoys spending time with her family in her spare time.
