Kristey Palmisano, LCSW, is a Mental Health Counselor at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital. Palmisano will see pediatric patients who have a behavioral health need during hospitalization. She will meet with families prior to discharge, and will help schedule appointments for outpatient care, to help provide quick and easy access to behavioral health services.
Palmisano specializes in caring for patients with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues related to school and social stressors, learning disabilities, and Level 1 Autism.
“I perform trauma-informed and person-centered care with a unique approach to therapy,” said Palmisano. “I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and art and play therapy to explore a patient’s emotions and behavior.”
Palmisano is certified in Trauma informed Expressive Arts Approach, Disaster Preparedness in Mental Health, Mindfulness Stress Based Reduction, Level 1 Reiki, and Play therapy training.
She recently co-wrote and illustrated a children’s book called “The Anxious Alien” which is sold on Amazon.
She was born in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey but grew up in a bed and breakfast named after the 1930s actress Mae West, called The Mae West Inn. In her spare time, she loves latch hooking, drawing, painting, dancing, doing yoga, going for nature walks, or taking fun trips.
