Dr. Richard Uhl is Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center. He previously served as interim chair since 2022 when Orthopedic Surgery became a department, and as head of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery for 22 years.

Dr. Uhl is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon with a focus on hand and upper extremity care, as well as orthopedic trauma including carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist fractures, and complex upper-extremity trauma. Beyond his clinical role, Dr. Uhl is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Albany Medical College and served as the residency program director for 26 years.
