Dr. Joaquim Pinheiro specializes in treating critically ill newborns and premature babies. His areas of focus include treating infections, perinatal difficulties, congenital anomalies, and consultation of high-risk fetuses.

Dr. Pinheiro is a professor of pediatrics and associate director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program. His interests include neonatal epidemiology and quality improvement, neonatal airway management, intubation safety, and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) use for surfactant therapy. He also specializes in persistent pulmonary hypertension.
