Dr. Chopra specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pleural diseases and manages a wide variety of other pulmonary diseases, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer. He also treats life-threatening illness using modern technology in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and cares for patients with long Covid in the Post-Covid Care Clinic.

Highly trained and skilled in point of care ultrasonography/echocardiography, Dr. Chopra is also skilled in a wide variety of modern pulmonary and critical care procedures, including PleurX catheter placement (permanent pleural catheter placement for malignant pleural effusion symptom relief), EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound, a minimally invasive procedure for staging of lung cancer), bronchoscopy, intubations, hemodialysis catheter placement, and more.

As director of the Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Albany Medical College, Dr. Chopra oversees the medical education, research activities, and training of Pulmonary and Critical Care fellows. He is also actively involved in research studies on pleural diseases and has presented his research at national and international conferences.
