Endovascular Neurosurgeon Joins Staff

Nicholas Field, MD, has joined Albany Medical Center’s Department of Neurosurgery, part of the Albany Med Health System, and has been appointed assistant professor of neurosurgery at Albany Medical College.

Dr. Field is trained in endovascular neurosurgery, a subspecialty of neurosurgery that involves the use of catheters (thin tubes) and radiological imaging for the minimally invasive treatment of diseases of the central nervous system, such as stroke and brain aneurysms. He is also interested in minimally invasive approaches to treat disorders of the spine and spinal column, resulting in less post-operative pain and faster recovery.

Dr. Field spent seven years training with Albany Medical Center’s team of neurosurgeons, completing a Committee on Advanced Specialty Training (CAST) fellowship in neuroendovascular surgery and a residency in neurological surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington. He remains involved in multiple neurosurgical research projects, such as improving stroke workflow using artificial intelligence applications.

Dr. Field will see patients at Albany Medical Center’s Department of Neurosurgery at 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, and each Thursday at Hudson Multispecialty Surgery, 71 Prospect Ave., Hudson. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 518-262-5088.
