Neonatologist Accepted into American Pediatric Society

Rubia Khalak, MD, a neonatologist and professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical Center, has been accepted into The American Pediatric Society.

The American Pediatric Society is the first and most prestigious academic pediatric organization in North America. It recognizes the contributions of child health leaders, teachers, scholars, policymakers, and clinicians on a national and international level. It celebrates their work and achievements to shape the future of academic pediatrics.

New members are nominated by current members.

“This is an unexpected honor to be elected as member of the American Pediatric Society,” said Dr. Khalak. “I am grateful for the recognition, and I appreciate the opportunities and support I have received at Albany Medical Center.”

Dr. Khalak is also the president-elect of the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research and begins her term as president in 2023. She also works closely with Albany Medical College, serving as the associate dean of Admissions and as an advising dean for medical students. She also mentors faculty and fellows at Albany Medical Center, and nationally through the American Academy of Pediatrics mentorship program.
