In Recognition of Constitution Day
In honor of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, September 17 is designated as National Constitution Day. Also known as Constitution and Citizenship Day, the annual commemoration began in 2005 to encourage all Americans to learn more about the Constitution.
The Constitution protects the fundamental rights of U.S. citizens, including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to vote. It also separates the powers of government and includes checks and balances to ensure no one branch has more power.
