Comprehensive Cancer Care Close to Home
With offices now in Glens Falls, Malta, and Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls Hospital’s C.R. Wood Cancer Center brings clinical excellence and renowned patient support even closer to home. As part of the Albany Med Health System, patients are also connected to the targeted treatment techniques and advanced surgery available at Albany Medical Center, the region’s only academic medical center.
“At the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, we believe in treating the entire patient, not just their disease,” said Aqeel Gillani, MD, medical director. “Our team offers advanced treatments, innovative support services, and leading screening technologies unsurpassed in the region, all in a patient-centered environment. We are dedicated to providing the compassionate, comprehensive care all patients deserve.”
Patients and families affected by a cancer diagnosis have access to full medical oncology services including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. A dedicated group of radiation oncology professionals provide image-guided radiotherapy, intensity modulated radiotherapy, volume modulated radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
The C.R. Wood Cancer Center has approximately 40 national clinical studies available for treatment, quality of life, and prevention. This research provides the opportunity for patients to conveniently receive some of the most leading-edge therapies available, while also directly contributing to the ongoing progress being made in the field of oncology.
From the moment of diagnosis, nurse navigators guide patients through their treatment plan. In addition to leading oncologists, the care team includes a health psychologist, mental health
counselors, oncology nutritionists, rehabilitation specialists, pharmacists, and spiritual care. Support services include massage
and reiki, support groups and classes, the Uniquely You Boutique for wigs and head coverings, and retreats for patients and their
families in the Adirondacks.
The Breast Center offers digital screening technology, such as 3D mammography with 3D guided breast biopsy capabilities, with
a team of radiologists and technologists specializing in high-quality breast imaging.
For those concerned about their personal or family history of cancer, the Center also offers hereditary cancer risk assessment,
genetic counseling, and testing by oncology genetic counselors.
