Cindy's Comfort Camps & Retreat - Glens Falls Hospital

Cindy’s Comfort Camps and Retreats

Cindy’s Comfort Camps and Cindy’s Retreat are named in memory of the late Cindy Ginsburg, whose affection and support for the camp and its campers will long be remembered. Cindy was instrumental in the establishment of Cindy’s Retreat, a weekend retreat for women living with, and beyond, cancer.

Cindy's Comfort Camp

Cindy’s Comfort Camp is a free, weekend overnight camp for children and teens age 6-17 who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling.

Our camp is based on the belief that children and teens are helped in difficult times by having an opportunity to gently explore their thoughts and feelings while also having fun. Our staff is made up of professional grief counselors from the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital and trained volunteers.

To register a camper or find out more about volunteering, contact MaryBeth Fitscher at 518-926-6577.

Cindy's Retreat

Twice each year, the C.R. Wood Cancer Center hosts Cindy’s Retreat at Silver Bay Conference Center in Bolton Landing on Lake George. Cindy’s Retreat encourages women who are living with, and beyond, cancer to focus on their physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Through group activities and personal time, participants learn ways to manage stress and improve their quality of life.

Heartfelt Conversations and Educational Activities

Over the course of a Cindy’s Retreat weekend, participants share their experiences, emotions, and questions with other women whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Whether in formal group discussions led by facilitators from the C.R. Wood Cancer Center or in private conversations in the dormitory, at the dinner table, or while exploring Silver Bay, participants address their fears and hopes, while building new friendships.

Activities include relaxation training, massage, and yoga health education, emotional expression, and art and music therapy.
