Pillars of Nursing Excellence

The Pillars of Nursing Excellence Award is one of the most prestigious honors bestowed by Albany Medical Center for nurses exhibiting excellence in patient care and leadership. Each year, staff are invited to nominate nurses for a Pillars award. The six winners are recognized during Nurses Week. Read about our 2025 Pillars of Nursing honorees.

DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is celebrated each month to highlight exceptional care by our nurses. The international nursing excellence award is based on nominations submitted by patients and their families. Learn more about the DAISY Award at Albany Medical Center.

Nurse Clinician Named Employee of the Year

Pediatric nurse clinician Colleen Umholtz, MS, RN, was named Albany Medical Center’s 2024 Employee of the Year. Colleen was selected for the honor out of more than 100 nominations submitted by staff members. Read more.

Med-Surg Nurse Manager Receives I CARE Award

Nurse Manager Analyn Nocus was recognized with an I CARE Award in 2024. Analyn joined Albany Medical Center in 2007 from the Philippines through our nurse recruitment program. She is currently the nurse manager in the medical surgical unit on M4. Analyn’s colleagues describe her as supportive, kind, communicative, and “a true leader.”

Analyn has always expressed willingness to know how she can better engage her nurses, PCAs, and ASAs to function at their best, to be team players, and to always do the right thing.”
