When Wanda Sykes, RN, relocated to the Capital Region, she noted how people in the community entrusted their care to Albany Medical Center. “I wanted to be part of a hospital that has made such a positive impact,” she said.

As a nurse in endoscopy, she rotates through pre-, intra-, and post-op areas, and has provided care in both the hospital and ambulatory settings since joining the team in 2013. “There are numerous opportunities to gain new experiences and develop your career.”
This summer Albany Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group. The award recognizes the organization’s culture, integrity, and employee engagement and satisfaction. The study involved a comprehensive assessment including 400,000 nationwide interviews, nearly five million company reviews, publicly accessible data, and an analysis of over 120 key performance indicators.

More than 10,000 employees occupy up to 920 different positions at Albany Med in both clinical and non-clinical areas. They also come from up to 80 different countries and represent all races, genders, and religions over five generations. Those statistics led to Albany Medical Center being named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity by Newsweek last year.
