Two Vascular Surgeons Join the Albany Med Health System

Drs. Nicholas Gilbert and Casey Hladik have joined the Division of Vascular Surgery

Casey Hladik, MD, and Nicholas Gilbert, MD, have joined the division of vascular surgery in the Albany Med Health System and have been appointed assistant professors at Albany Medical College.

Both surgeons will treat patients for peripheral arterial disease, abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, peripheral aneurysms, carotid artery disease, thrombosis, end stage renal disease and venous insufficiency. They are skilled in performing minimally invasive endovascular interventions, lower and upper extremity revascularizations, carotid endarterectomy, abdominal and thoracic endovascular aneurysm and open aneurysm repair, dialysis access creation and interventions, and deep venous endovascular interventions.

Dr. Hladik recently completed a vascular surgery residency at Albany Medical Center, where he was chief resident and was twice voted Vascular Surgery Resident of the Year by colleagues. Prior to that, he completed a preliminary general surgery residency at Albany Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and a bachelor’s degree from Siena College as part of the colleges’ joint degree program in the sciences, humanities, and medicine. He co-authored an article published in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Hladik will treat patients at Albany Medical Center Vascular Surgery at 391 Myrtle Ave., Albany, and at Columbia Memorial Health’s Medical Office Building in Hudson.

Dr. Gilbert has an interest in complex aortic disease and is trained in both open and endovascular techniques. He recently completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Ct., and completed a residency in general surgery at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, La., where he received the Excellence in Vascular Surgery Award. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Miss. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Gilbert will treat patients at Albany Medical Center Vascular Surgery at 391 Myrtle Ave., Albany, and the Malta Specialty Care Center at 6 Medical Park Drive in Malta.
