Stroke Care - Glens Falls Hospital

New York State-Designated Primary Stroke Center

Glens Falls Hospital is designated as a New York State Primary Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health. The center is led by physicians and nurses with training in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, and has established protocols to ensure a rapid response for patients who could be having a stroke. This can include immediate brain imaging and evaluation for possible stroke patients in the Emergency Department.

Glens Falls Hospital is able to accept inbound stroke patients via helicopter transport. This process ensures that all patients in the Adirondack region experiencing neurological symptoms get to the nearest designated Stroke Center with urgency whether they are transported by ground or air.

Evidence-Based Care

Glens Falls Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement Award for commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
