Dr. Zaman is Chief of the Bariatric Surgery Section at Albany Medical Center.
She is a bariatric and general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive procedures, She is fellowship-trained in laparoscopic surgery to treat conditions that include acid reflux disease, swallowing disorders and hiatal hernias. The procedures she performs include laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery, as well as robotic and endoscopic surgical procedures. She also performs general surgery to repair conditions and diseases of the gallbladder, appendix and upper gastrointestinal tract, as well as hernias and complex abdominal wall defects.
Dr. Zaman is the recipient an Outstanding Surgeon Award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, as well as several academic awards, and her research interests include developing enhanced recovery protocols following bariatric surgery. She is fluent in Bengali.
Dr. Zaman received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, completed a residency in general surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and conducted her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Wisconsin.
