Dr. Matthew Wright Joins Kidney Transplant Program

Matthew Wright, MBBS, MPH, a kidney transplant surgeon, has joined Albany Medical Center’s Department of Surgery and has been appointed assistant professor at Albany Medical College.

Dr. Wright recently completed an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Kentucky Health in Lexington, Ky., and a residency in preliminary surgery at the University of Florida Health in Gainesville, Fla. He received his medical degree from the University of Queensland School of Medicine Ochsner Clinical School in both Brisbane, Australia and New Orleans, and received a Master of Public Health Policy and administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons.

The transplant team takes a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to caring for transplant recipients to achieve successful outcomes for patients and provide support, before, during and after a transplant.
