Albany Medical Center Names Megan Keenan as Chief Nursing Officer
Megan Keenan, RN, DNP, has been named vice president and chief nursing officer (CNO) for Albany Medical Center. Keenan has served as interim CNO since June and officially assumes the role following more than two decades with the organization.
Keenan began her career at Albany Medical Center in 2004 as an administrative support associate in the Department of Vascular Surgery. Inspired by the nurses she supported, she pursued a career in nursing, earning her license and later completing her nursing degree with the support of Albany Med’s tuition reimbursement program. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on clinical system management and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
Over the course of her career, Keenan has held both clinical and non-clinical roles at Albany Med, including nearly 10 years in the Quality Management Department, where she most recently served as director. She was named assistant chief nursing officer in February. Keenan’s broad experience has given her a deep understanding of nursing operations and hospital systems, as well as the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
“Megan’s 20-plus years of experience have earned her tremendous institutional knowledge and the respect of her colleagues,” said Executive Vice President and Hospital General Director Jason Mouzakes, MD. “She is an engaged leader who celebrates her team and is devoted to our mission. Having risen through the ranks, she has a close understanding of the many different aspects of nursing, which makes her uniquely suited to this role.”
Keenan said she is honored to continue serving Albany Medical Center in this leadership capacity. “It is a privilege to work alongside such skilled and dedicated nurses,” she said. “I am deeply committed to supporting them and ensuring our patients continue to receive the highest quality care.”
Keenan and her family live in Nassau where they maintain a 30-acre hobby farm with goats, horses, pigs, and chickens.
