Stephanie Jones, MD

Dr. Jones is the chair of the Department of Anesthesiology.

She previously worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, where she was associate professor and vice chair for education and faculty development. She also was associate professor of anesthesia at Harvard Medical School. Earlier in her career, she held faculty appointments and administrative leadership positions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

A practicing anesthesiologist for more than 20 years, Dr. Jones’ clinical interests include the anesthetic implications for obese patients, including those having bariatric surgery. She has served as a member of the Massachusetts Statewide Weight Loss Surgery Expert Panel and Anesthesia Task Force and has served as president of the International Society for Perioperative Care of the Obese Patient.

Dr. Jones is a member of numerous professional societies including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society and Society for Education in Anesthesia, of which she is President-Elect. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of UpToDate Anesthesiology, a source for clinical reference in anesthesiology, and International Anesthesiology Clinics, through which she has direct impact on the dissemination of topical and current knowledge in anesthesiology.
