Shelly Breton Named SVP for System Revenue Cycle

The Albany Med Health System has named longtime employee Shelly Breton senior vice president for System Revenue Cycle. As such, she will manage health information, clinical documentation, revenue integrity, billing, payor and vendor performance, and revenue cycle training for the Health System.

Breton joined Albany Medical Center in 2001 as assistant vice president for Physician Billing, later was promoted to vice president for Billing and in 2020 became Albany Medical Center’s vice president for Revenue Cycle Operations.

“As vice president for Revenue Cycle Operations, Shelly took the helm of the business unit responsible for ensuring the integrity and collectability of our entire patient revenue stream—a $1.5 billion enterprise. She has fulfilled that role with excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to our mission and her team,” said Frances Spreer Albert, executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the Albany Med Health System.

“In 2021, Shelly began leading efforts across the Health System to share best practices to improve, streamline, and centralize, where appropriate, our revenue cycle functions. Most recently, she has steadfastly served as the revenue cycle executive lead on our transformative Epic installation. The Health System will benefit greatly from her leadership as we work to further standardize and optimize our revenue cycle services throughout the System.”

Breton, of Latham, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.
