Katie McAvoy-Pindar, LMSW, joined Albany Medical Center in October 2022 as a Mental Health Counselor, filling a new position in the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders.

Katie provides comprehensive mental health care at the Melodies Center, helping patients cope with a diagnosis and adjust to a new illness. She also offers psychotherapy for children and families who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other aspects of managing medical treatment.

Katie became a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker in September 2022. She earned her Master of Social Work at the University at Albany. She previous worked as a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Social Worker at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY.
